Badges Are Here

We just shipped badges. Open your Profile and you’ll see a new tile for them right next to Friends.

A badge is a small mark of something you’ve done on VinoSeeker. Some are milestones — the first sip you logged, the first check-in, your first bottle in the library. Others are tiered, going from Bronze to Platinum as your habit grows: wineries you’ve visited, varietals you’ve tasted, countries you’ve poured from, lists you’ve made.

There are 24 badges across four tracks:

Discovery — places, varietals, countries, vintages worth chasing.

Cellar Craft — bottles in your library, growing into a quiet collection.

Community — friends, lists, group tastings, the shared parts of wine.

Milestones — firsts. The little moments worth noticing.

Why we built them this way

A few things we said no to from the start. No streaks — we never want the app to feel like “don’t break your wine streak.” No public leaderboards. No casino-style rewards. Wine isn’t a competition; it’s a personal map of places you’ve been and bottles you’ve loved. Badges should celebrate that quietly, not gamify it.

So earning one feels like a wink, not a fanfare. Tap the Badges tile on your Profile to see what’s lit up so far.

A small note

When you first open the tile, give it a beat. The app catches up on what you’ve earned the moment you look, so things you did weeks or months ago should fill in. After that it stays current.

What’s next

We’ll keep adding badges as we think of them — and over the next few releases we want the awards themselves to feel a little more present, with a tasteful toast the next time you open the app after earning one. We also have a longer-term idea kicking around: opt-in friend comparisons (“you and Brian both have the Around the World badge”). Never broadcast, never a leaderboard. Just a quiet way to find the people whose taste lines up with yours.

For now: open your Profile, tap Badges, and tell us what you’d like us to celebrate next.
