45 North Vineyard & Winery is located in Leelanau County, Michigan, situated directly on the 45th parallel. The property, a centennial farm, was purchased by Steve and Lori Grossnickle in 2006, who had developed a passion for Leelanau County's wine scene while owning a vacation cottage nearby. They worked with the Leelanau Conservancy to donate a conservation easement, restricting development and preserving the land for farming forever. The winery actively farms 35 acres of several varietals, including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Vignoles, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, using sustainable practices. The family-owned operation is led by Steve's children, Alanna Grossnickle, who serves as Director of Operations, and Eric, along with other family members. The winery offers a tasting experience in its on-site tasting room, where visitors can sample wines paired with bites. A 3-mile recreational trail through the vineyard allows guests to explore the scenic property year-round. The winery also hosts weddings and private events, providing a unique setting for special occasions. With over 72 awards won and 109 wines produced, 45 North Vineyard & Winery has established itself as a prominent player in Michigan's wine industry.
