A. Nonini Winery

A. Nonini Winery sits on a country road surrounded by vineyards in Fresno, in California's San Joaquin Valley. The winery was founded in 1936 by Antonio and Angiolina Nonini, along with their son Reno, though the family had planted its first vineyards in 1918. Antonio immigrated from Northern Italy in 1900, and the operation remains a fourth-generation family business, now led by Reno's grandson James Jordan as general manager and winemaker, who also farms the family vineyards. The winery works with Zinfandel, Barbera, Alicante bouchet, and Palomino, among other grapes, and labels each wine as 100% of the stated varietal. The Noninis make wine in an old-world style with minimal preservatives and bottle the wines unfiltered after aging. Many of the redwood aging tanks date to 1936, and the equipment still in use includes a 1941 Italian grape crusher, post-WWII hydraulic basket presses from Healdsburg, and 1947 wine filters from Fresno. Aged oak barrels finish the premium wines. The tasting room offers tastings and tours.
