Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery, nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA for over two decades, specializes in estate-grown wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region. Founded by Richard and Mary Kay Alfaro in 1997, the winery has transformed a 75-acre apple farm into 60 acres under vine, producing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, and Gruner Veltliner. Their wines are crafted with attention to detail, reflecting the cool climate characteristics of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation. The tasting room, located on-site, offers indoor and outdoor bars with picnic areas overlooking the vineyards, and is child and dog friendly. Wine club members receive complimentary flights of six or more wines. Alfaro Family Vineyards has gained recognition for their exceptional coastal cool climate Chardonnay and Pinots, as well as other varietals like Gruner Veltliner and Merlot. Their 2018 Malbec, sourced from the Ryan Spencer Vineyard, demonstrates a unique profile with layers of dark fruit, forest floor, and spices, polished by French oak aging.
