Aptos Vineyard

Aptos Vineyard is a family-owned winery established in 1974 by Judge John and Patti Marlo in Aptos, California, within the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. The winery's history began when the Marlos noticed their property had vineyard potential and decided to cultivate it, with tending to the vineyard and harvesting grapes becoming a family affair. Initially, they worked with various winemakers to craft their signature Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. After a slow start, the vineyard flourished, producing bountiful fruit for decades. However, when Judge John fell ill in the mid-2000s, the label went dormant until it was revived by James Baker and his family, who purchased the wine label and reestablished Aptos Vineyard as a micro-négoces, relying on expert winemakers and exceptional vineyards to produce high-quality wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The winery's tasting room closed in 2022, but their wines are still available for purchase online and at pop-up events, with shipping and delivery options within Santa Cruz County.
