Avant Vineyards

Avant Vineyards is a small, estate-grown winery in Palisade, Colorado, on the western slope along the Colorado River at the base of the Grand Mesa. Diane Guard makes the wines and Neil Guard manages the vineyard. They produce in hand-crafted small batches, keeping the process as natural as possible to let the character of the fruit come through. The high-desert environment, with cool nights and hot sunny days, ripens and intensifies the flavors of their estate grapes. Their wines include whites, roses, reds, and sparkling wines. Whites include Alberino, Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Blanc, and the Montage blend of Viognier and Roussanne. Roses include Syrah Rose and Rose of Cabernet Franc. Reds range from Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Teroldego to blends such as Cabernet Sauvignon-Sangiovese and the new Rosso di Montagna Unica, a Teroldego-Sangiovese blend. Sparkling wines include a Blanc de Noir made methode champenoise and a Proprietor's Reserve Red Petillant Naturel Bordeaux blend. Visitors can taste at the winery and are encouraged to bring a picnic.
