Balsall Creek Vineyards is situated in the Chehalem Mountains AVA within Oregon's Willamette Valley, specifically on 35 acres of farmland just north of the Dundee Hills. The winery focuses primarily on producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, while also cultivating a range of unique varietals including Gamay Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Aligoté, and Pinot Meunier. Balsall Creek is committed to sustainable practices, holding certifications in Live, Salmon Safe, and Bee Friendly Farming, and employs dry-farming and hand-harvesting methods. The winery produces its own solar energy and partners with NW Wine Company for barrel-aging and bottling services. Winemaker Laurent Montalieu works closely with the Owens family to craft Burgundian-style wines. The Owens family has deep roots in Oregon, spanning eight generations, with Jon's great-great-great-grandfather settling in the area in 1850. The family's appreciation for wine production was fostered through extensive travel and visits to vineyards worldwide. Today, Jon and Lesli's children, James, Emily, and Zac, are actively involved in the business, bringing their individual passions and expertise to the table. Lesli is a white wine connoisseur, while James has a background in geology, and Zac is inspired by the region's rich soil.
