Blackthorne Cellars

Blackthorne Cellars is a farm winery on 100 acres near Deep Creek Lake in Oakland, Maryland, surrounded by towering pines, creeks, and open fields. The owners' connection to the area began in 2000, and after two decades they established the winery there. They currently source grapes from Maryland vineyards and plan to plant their own estate vineyard in the coming years. The portfolio spans sparkling, white, rosé, and red wines. Offerings include Bliss, a Charmat-method sparkling Chardonnay; Creek, a stainless-steel Sauvignon Blanc; Lazy Daisy, an off-dry Riesling-Gewürztraminer blend; Cove, a Malbec-based rosé; and reds such as Boxer, a Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot blend, and Pine, an oak-aged Merlot. Guests can taste by self-guided flight, glass, or bottle in an indoor tasting room with a grand fireplace or at covered outdoor seating and fire pits. The winery welcomes walk-ins, allows picnics, and sells artisan cheese and charcuterie boards. Children are welcome, and leashed dogs are permitted outdoors only.
