Cadence Winery

Cadence Winery is a Seattle-based producer of Red Mountain Bordeaux blends with a focus on Cabernet Franc. Founded in 1998 by Ben Smith and Gaye McNutt, the winery has consolidated its lineup around estate fruit from its Cara Mia Vineyard, which was planted in 2004 and now comprises 8.5 acres under vine. The winery's signature wines include Bel Canto, a right-bank style blend predominantly featuring Merlot and Cabernet Franc; Camerata, a left-bank style led by Cabernet Sauvignon; and Cara Mia Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a single-varietal estate bottling. Coda is the winery's second label, comprising barrels not essential to its top blends, with 100% Cara Mia estate fruit since 2019. The winery has phased out contracted bottlings from Ciel du Cheval and Tapteil vineyards, opting for a more focused approach to production. With a small production run and distribution primarily through the mailing list and limited specialty wholesale, Cadence Winery is known for its Bordeaux-style blends and commitment to estate-grown fruit.
