Château de Camarsac

Château Camarcet is a family-owned property located on the outskirts of Bordeaux in the commune of Saint-Morillon, within the Graves appellation. The winery produces high-quality wines from ancient gravelly and argilo-calcareous soils dating back to the quaternary period, among the oldest in the region. With a history spanning over 150 years, Château Camarcet's origins date back to the 17th century when the Montesquieu family built their hunting lodge on the property, surrounded by an 80-hectare forest. The winery's first recorded productions appeared in Edouard Ferret's second guide in 1868, listing it among Bordeaux's "Grands Vins." After a decline due to phylloxera and wars, the current owners relaunched the estate in 1990, replanting vineyards on gravelly soils for red varieties and argilo-calcareous soils for white varieties. Today, Château Camarcet cultivates approximately 3 hectares of vineyard, divided into small parcels, with a production of around 10,000 bottles per year. The winery's philosophy focuses on producing fruit-forward white wines with aromas of peach and citrus, and structured red blends aged in oak barrels for several years before release. The estate follows sustainable agriculture practices, allowing the vines to thrive in symbiosis with their environment, and conducts minimal interventions during the winemaking process.
