Chinook Wines

Chinook Wines, located in the Yakima Valley AVA of Washington State, has been a cornerstone of the Prosser wine community since its founding by Kay Simon and Clay Mackey in 1983. The married partner team combined their extensive experience in winemaking and viticulture to create quintessential Yakima Valley wines. With Kay's distinguished background as one of the first female winemakers in Washington State, and Clay's expertise as a respected viticulturist, Chinook Wines has been widely regarded for its quality and has helped spread recognition for Washington wines. The winery is particularly known for its work with Cabernet franc, including a dry rosé that has garnered statewide acclaim and is often described as a "Washington Chinon". Named after the Chinook wind that blows through the Pacific Northwest, Chinook Wines' signature style is characterized by the classic expression of Yakima Valley fruit. The winery's tasting room in Prosser is currently open for curbside pickup by appointment only, with hopes to soon offer in-person tastings and experiences.
