Clos Saron

Clos Saron is a unique vineyard producing Pinot Noir wine with distinctive character in the California Sierra Foothills. Founded by a couple who took over a small vineyard in 1995, Clos Saron began as a half-acre plot of Cabernet Sauvignon that was later grafted to Pinot Noir. The "Old Block" vineyard, now expanded to 2.5 acres, is situated in Oregon House, California (Yuba County), at an altitude of 1500-1600 feet. The vineyard's microclimate and soil combination, featuring yellowish clay-loam topsoil on fractured volcanic rock subsoil, has proven ideal for Pinot Noir production. Clos Saron's wines are made using a "no winemaking" approach, with minimal intervention to preserve the terroir expression. The winery produces other wines from purchased fruit, all adhering to their chemical-free and simple farming practices. Their focus on Pinot Noir is driven by its exceptional ability to capture and express the essence of its place of origin, resulting in distinctive and expressive renditions of this variety.
