Cody Kresta Vineyard & Winery

Cody Kresta Vineyard & Winery is a small family operation in Mattawan, Michigan, run by third-generation grape grower David and his wife Mary Lou. The winery takes its name from David's golden retriever, Cody, and from his Croatian heritage; his grandparents, Joseph and Anna, established a grape farm nearby in the 1930s, and their hand press now sits in the tasting room. All grapes come from the Lake Michigan Shore AVA, including fruit from the estate vineyard, where lake breezes and the water's thermal mass moderate temperatures for ripening. The winery keeps production small and focuses on hand-crafted vinifera and hybrid wines, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Traminette, late-harvest Vidal, and a Blueberry wine made in a Bordeaux style, alongside reds, rosés, sparkling, and ice wines. Guests taste in a Tuscan-inspired tasting room on a 20-acre estate between Paw Paw and Mattawan. Visits include wine tastings, glasses of wine, and a snack menu of charcuterie, cheese, and crackers, with indoor seating and an outdoor patio and bar. The winery hosts food trucks, Ladies Night, and annual events, and also accommodates private gatherings.
