Crystal Basin Station

Crystal Basin Cellars, located in the Apple Hill region of El Dorado County, has been producing award-winning wines since 2000. The winery's history dates back to 1981 when founder Mike Owen's family began making wine at home, and by 1988, Mike took over production, leading a group of friends to produce up to 20 barrels (nearly 500 cases) annually. After commercial production was achieved in 2000 with a move to Gold Hill Vineyard, the winery relocated to its current site on Carson Road in Camino's Apple Hill in 2006. The winery has since thrived, winning multiple gold medals at major competitions and boasting a loyal wine club membership. The tasting room experience is available daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm, with extended hours Thursday through Saturday until 7:00pm. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings, barrel tastings, and the winery's patio area, which offers a quiet retreat for outdoor wine enjoyment. The building itself has a rich history, dating back to 1973 when it was licensed as the second winery in El Dorado County after Prohibition. The team at Crystal Basin Cellars is led by production staff leader Erich and hospitality team members KZ, Chris, Barbara, and Mike, who strive to provide an exceptional wine tasting experience with a focus on local El Dorado County grapes.
