Davenport Orchards & Winery

Davenport Orchards & Winery is a family-owned winery located in Eudora and Topeka, Kansas. The winery was founded by C.W. and Mary Davenport, who purchased the farm in 1961 and initially grew peaches and apples. Their grandson, Greg Shipe, took over operations after C.W.'s retirement and expanded the farm to include grapes, which were planted in 1990 at the suggestion of his wife, Charlee Glinka. The vineyard now spans 24 acres and features 13 varieties of grapes alongside 5 acres of apples. Davenport Winery produces over 40 different wines, ranging from dry reds to sweet whites, using only 100% Kansas-grown fruit. The winemaking philosophy is centered around minimal intervention, allowing the wine to express itself freely. Tastings are available at both locations and are free during normal business hours or by appointment. Visitors can explore the vineyard and farm, which has been in operation since 1949, when C.W. and Mary Davenport first settled in Lawrence. The winery's atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a focus on showcasing the unique qualities of Kansas-grown fruit.
