Den Hoed Winery

The winery's history dates back to Andreas Den Hoed, who immigrated to the United States with his family in 1948 after fleeing war-torn Holland. After working off their sponsorship on a dairy farm and later in construction, the Den Hoed family eventually settled on a small farm in New Jersey before being drawn to Washington state's climate and agricultural opportunities. In 1953, Andreas returned to the Netherlands to propose to Marie Christina Kranendonk, whom he would marry upon his return. The following year, the family purchased a 360-acre farm north of Grandview in the Yakima Valley, marking the beginning of their new life in Washington. The winery's atmosphere is likely shaped by its family history and agricultural heritage, offering an authentic taste of Washington state's wine country.
