The property was built by Ellis between 1885 and 1890 as a stately neo-Romanesque mansion featuring thick blue sandstone walls and ornate stone arches. Wine production is known to have taken place on the estate since its inception, with records showing that it was included in the Sunol Viticulture District's vineyard totals in 1898. Today, visitors can experience the property's history through a virtual tour, which showcases the mansion, lawns, garden, and expansive Terrace Room. The winery offers wine tastings while enjoying the picturesque surroundings, with reservations required for groups of two or more.
