Fence Stile Vineyards, Winery & Distillery sits in the rolling hills of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, just outside Kansas City. The estate began with vineyard preparations in 2006 and first plantings in 2007, opened to guests in 2009, added wine caves in 2014, and established its NYX Spirits distillery in 2021. The name refers to a fence stile, the steps that let people cross over a fence, which the owners treat as an invitation for guests to enter the vineyard for wine, conversation, and gatherings. The winery is best known for its candlelit wine cave tours, led by the owner and winemaker, where visitors taste current releases while learning about the estate's history and winemaking.
