Fore Family Vineyards is a family-owned winery based in Lake County, California, with a focus on sustainable farming practices. Founded by Jim Fore, who transitioned from an engineering background to viticulture after being laid off from his job at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1994, the winery has grown from humble beginnings as a home winemaking hobby to a full-fledged operation. The Fore family's vineyards are located on Cobb Mountain, where they farm 17 acres of diverse varietals including Grenache Blanc, Albariño, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. The winery's philosophy emphasizes connection to the land and a commitment to quality, with Jim Fore having learned the art of grape growing from his friend and grapegrower Doug Hill.
