Georis Winery

Georis Winery, located in the upper Carmel Valley of California's Monterey County, is a family-owned and operated winery founded by Walter Georis in 1981. Born to Belgian and German parents who immigrated to the US when he was a child, Walter developed a passion for fine wines and country life, which led him to establish his vineyard in Carmel Valley. The 14-acre estate is planted with a mix of Bordeaux and Burgundian varietals, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir, showcasing the region's unique terroir. Georis Winery prioritizes environmental responsibility, employing natural farming practices such as composting and cover cropping to promote biodiversity and preserve the land's character. Georis wines are crafted with a focus on European traditions and California's generous climate, resulting in complex, elegant wines with a dry finish. The winery produces both red and white wines, including Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and its popular Rosé "Les Abeilles." Visitors can experience Georis' world-class wines at the adobe-style tasting room, which offers a stylish interior and lush gardens perfect for sipping wine. The staff is knowledgeable about the winemaking philosophy and happy to share in-depth information with guests. Tasting hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, excluding holidays and inclement weather.
