Hanzell Vineyards

Hanzell Vineyards, located at the southern toe of the Mayacamas mountain range overlooking Sonoma Valley and San Pablo Bay, has been estate growing and producing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon since 1953. Founded by Ambassador James D. Zellerbach with a vision to create wines that could compete globally, Hanzell's signature varietals are rooted in Zellerbach's experience in Burgundy, where he was inspired by the region's wines and grapes. The winery has been owned solely by the de Brye family since 1975, who have continued Zellerbach's tradition with a progressive approach to holistic farming practices, including certification as an organic vineyard in 2021. Hanzell offers tastings by appointment only, which can be reserved through Cellarpass or by calling directly. As a working farm and winery, visitors must be at least 21 years old to visit the property. The estate has been farmed for over seven decades, with a focus on sustainability and preserving tradition for future generations.
