Hilltop Orchards

Hilltop Orchards is a 187-acre working farm and tasting room in Richmond, Massachusetts, set at the foothills of the Berkshires on the upstate New York border. The Vittori family runs the orchard, which has operated for more than a century and grows 27 apple varieties, including heritage and heirloom apples. Its on-site cidery, JMASH, is one of the oldest continually operating cideries in New England, producing orchard-to-can ciders such as Johnny Mash Original, Farmhouse Hazy, Coconut Lime, and French Cidré. The winery, Furnace Brook Winery, crafts over 15 varietal wines from grapes sourced from vineyards in the Northeast and California. The farm uses sustainable practices and an integrated pest management system to grow residue-free apples. Visitors can taste cider and wine daily, tour the cidery by appointment, hike woodland trails designed by John Morton, pick apples in season, and take weekend wagon rides when weather permits. The farm store sells fresh cider donuts, pies, and other orchard products, and leashed dogs are welcome.
