Iterum

Iterum Wines, founded by Joe Dobbes in 2019, represents his full-circle winemaking story and career culmination. With over three decades of experience, including stints at Weingut Erbhof Tesch in West Germany, Elk Cove Vineyards, and Willamette Valley Vineyards, Dobbes has developed a deep understanding of winemaking. His journey began at age 12 with growing and selling Marionberries to Smuckers from his family home in Oregon. After studying biology at Southern Oregon University, Dobbes pursued various apprenticeships, including in Burgundy under Christophe Roumier and Dominique Lafon. He later became Cellar Master at Elk Cove Vineyards and held winemaking positions at Eola Hills Wine Cellars and Hinman Vineyards. In 2018, Dobbes purchased the Orchard House Estate home and vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, where he now produces Iterum Wines using organically farmed grapes from his estate. The winery's name, "Iterum," means "again" or "anew" in Latin, reflecting Dobbes' desire to revisit and refine his craft after a two-year hiatus from winemaking.
