La Chouette Vineyard

La Chouette Vineyard is a small, estate-grown vineyard located just south of Salem in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The 15-acre property benefits from a picturesque southwest exposure with stunning views of the Coastal Range, and its elevation range of 250 to 500 feet ensures consistent bud breaks in early April. Established in two phases - the upper section in fall 2007 and the lower sections in spring 2020 - the vineyard produces around 600 cases of wine each harvest. La Chouette's winemaking philosophy focuses on expressing the fruit and terroir of their estate-grown fruit, resulting in high-quality wines that can be purchased from the vineyard, The Arbor on State Street, or online. Tastings are available by appointment only, lasting 1 to 1.5 hours between 11am and 5pm. The winery's story began with a vision of building a life with a vineyard and farm, sparked during a stint living in Europe from 1991 to 1993. After finding an 88-acre farm in the Willamette Valley in 2004, the owners moved there in 2006 and spent several years repairing the property and tilling acres of old pasture before establishing their vineyard.
