Lexème is an Oregon-based winery founded by Monja Hudson-Desmeules and Christopher Hudson in 2015. The couple met while interning at King Estate winery and shared a passion for producing high-end, straightforward wines. They spent years searching for the perfect land to plant their vineyard, eventually finding a south-facing site with rolling hills overlooking the Umpqua River near Elkton, Oregon. In 2012, they planted Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes on this estate-grown vineyard. Lexème's winemaking style reflects the couple's dedication to truthful wines, with a focus on showcasing the unique characteristics of their terroir. The tasting room, located on-site, offers appointments and walk-in tastings on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm. Monja and Christopher's backgrounds in enology and viticulture engineering, respectively, have given them a strong foundation in winemaking practices, with experience gained through internships and work at notable wineries such as King Estate and Left Coast Cellars. Their brand name, Lexème, translates to "root of a word" in French, reflecting their commitment to deep roots and authenticity in their wines.
