Lindon Wines

Lindon Wines is a small family-owned winery and vineyard located just outside Burlington, Iowa, on the McCabe family farm. Don McCabe, who grew up on a farm near Mt. Pleasant, founded the winery from a background in agriculture and enology, combining self-taught winemaking knowledge with coursework through Iowa State University's Enology Department. He and his brother, Dennis McCabe, planted the vineyard in 2000, made their first production in 2004, received federal licensure as Lindon Wines in 2006, and completed the on-site wine production facility that same year. Linda McCabe now directs marketing, and other family members and friends help with tastings, harvest, and marketing. The winery grows its own cold-hardy grape varietals and produces all its wines on site. Its lineup includes the award-winning dry Celtic Red, Burlington Blush, the white Burlington Mist, Burlington Kiss, Hot Lips infused with habanero pepper, and a dessert sherry. Visitors can view the vineyard and attend a free tasting in The Green Dragon, a custom-built 12-sided tasting room that opened in 2018. Tastings are by appointment.
