Links Bridge Vineyards

Links Bridge Vineyards is a farm winery on the right bank of the Monocacy River near Utica, Maryland, about 20 minutes north of Frederick. Owners Joan Cartier and Robert Thompson acquired the land in 2003, prepared a one-acre vineyard in 2008, and planted 800 cabernet franc vines in 2009 with help from family. They sold their early crops to other wineries before expanding to four acres of vines, adding albariño, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and petit verdot, and beginning to produce wine under their own label. They make wine in small batches, relying on on-site facilities after initially renting space and equipment elsewhere. Visitors taste seated at tables, trying flights of seven wines that change periodically. The tasting room is in a renovated barn next to the winery, with indoor and outdoor seating. Children are welcome, and leashed dogs are permitted. The winery also hosts a Wine and Art Series with rotating exhibits by regional artists.
