Madison County Winery

Madison County Winery is a native Iowa winery located in the heart of the state's wine country, nestled near Madison County's famous covered bridges. The winery, owned and operated by Doug and Cheryl Bakker, was established in 2000 when they purchased the property and spent the next year developing the land for planting. With the help of family members and friends, the vineyard was planted by 2001, taking four years to mature before producing a commercial harvest in 2005. The winery began selling its wine at local markets and stores, eventually expanding to include permanent residency in several locations across central Iowa. In 2010, the tasting room and warehouse were added on-site, allowing guests to purchase wines directly and enjoy them with craft beer pairings from Twisted Vine Brewery (now Big Rack Brew Haus). The winery continues to offer a variety of wines, including sweet, dry, and unique flavored options, as well as wine flights. Visitors can relax in the outdoor patio or pergola seating areas, take a tour of the tasting room, or enjoy private events for up to 150 guests on-site.
