Mousse Sparkling Wine

Mousse Sparkling Wine Co. is a downtown Jordan, Minnesota winery devoted to sparkling wines made from grapes grown in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Winemaker Josie Boyle and her husband Micah Lennox bought the circa-1895 Chaska brick building in December 2019, renovated it starting in January 2020, and opened the tasting room in September 2020. The space, once a butcher shop, public library, florist, and antique store, now holds a restored tasting room and a patio bordered by a short row of Itasca vines. Boyle developed the project after winemaking work in New Zealand, Iowa, Michigan at L Mawby Vineyards, and Minnesota's Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery. The winery buys fruit from local growers rather than farming its own vineyard, focusing on méthode champenoise, Charmat-method, carbonated, and pét-nat sparkling wines. Its wines rely on cold-climate grapes such as Itasca, Frontenac Blanc, Frontenac Gris, Marquette, Frontenac, and La Crescent, spanning dry traditional-method wines, off-dry and sweet bubblies, plus a small selection of still wines, hard ciders, and wine cocktails.
