One Woman Wines & Vineyards is a Long Island winery founded by Claudia Purita, who drew inspiration from her family's farm in Calabria, Italy, where she learned the value of sustainable farming and self-reliance. Located in Southold, NY, on the North Fork of Long Island, the vineyard was previously a potato and melon farm that Claudia purchased in 2001 to preserve its natural beauty. She has since hand-planted much of the vineyard and renovated existing barns into her winery, which is certified sustainable and entirely estate-grown and produced. The winery is a member of the Long Island Sustainable Winegrowers Association and adheres to strict sustainability standards, avoiding herbicides and harsh pesticides in favor of low-impact practices that promote self-sufficiency. Visitors can experience the winery's boutique wines at its tasting room, which is open daily except Tuesday from 11:30 AM to 6 PM (Fridays until 5 PM), with reservations recommended for weekends and holidays due to limited seating. The atmosphere is intimate, with a focus on showcasing Claudia's dedication to her craft and the natural environment that inspires it.
