Open Claim Vineyards

Open Claim Vineyards is a small-production estate in the Willamette Valley, southeast of Dallas, Oregon, founded by Marnie and Brett Wall. They planted their 55-acre vineyard in 2012 on a 4-degree south-facing slope at the base of Mt. Pisgah, where marine sedimentary soils sit atop some of the Willamette Valley's oldest geological formations. The site is buffered from valley winds and frost, and the 20.78 planted acres are farmed organically and dry-farmed across ten blocks growing ten clones of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Winemaker Tony Rynders, who began consulting for the project in 2008, makes limited quantities of estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, aged in French oak. The wines are released primarily through allocation to the Vintage Collection Circle, with current releases sometimes available at the tasting room. Visitors can book a 90-minute Classic Tasting at the Dundee Tasting Room inside The Dundee Hotel, where estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are compared side by side, or opt for the chef's pairing with seasonal dishes by Chef Jason Fritz. Private appointments are also offered at the Dallas Vineyard Estate, including a walking tour of the grounds, vineyard, and gardens with a dedicated host.
