Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge Tasting Room

Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge Tasting Room is a winery located at the southern extreme of Napa Carneros, on land previously used for grazing since the time of the missionaries. Founded by Nicholas Molnar in 1973, it was among the first to farm this area, which was initially considered too cool to ripen wine grapes. The vineyard has been growing chardonnay and pinot noir for top sparkling wine houses in Napa Valley for three decades. In addition to Poseidon Vineyard, Obsidian Wine Co. also owns a vineyard on an old abandoned walnut orchard at high altitude, situated on a ridge of solid black Obsidian glass, where they produce a unique cabernet sauvignon due to the extreme climate and volcanic soil conditions. The winery's philosophy is rooted in heritage and innovation, with a focus on collaboration, economy, environment, and exploration. They are committed to sustainable farming practices, have a solar-powered winery, and have donated over $300k to SF Baykeeper. Their wines are crafted using barrels made from Tokaj oak by Kádár Hungary, a cooperage they own. The tasting room, Obsidian Base Camp, is located in Sonoma and features a nature-inspired design with soothing tones and Japanese elements, reflecting the winery's emphasis on exploring and sharing natural sources.
