Preston Wines

Preston Farm and Winery is a family-run farm and winery in Dry Creek Valley, near Healdsburg, California. Lou and Susan Preston bought the first Dry Creek parcel, the Hartsock Ranch, in 1973 and opened the first winery in 1975 inside a historic prune dehydrator. Zinfandel was planted on the land as early as 1895 by the Guadagni family, and the Prestons added Sauvignon Blanc in 1974, followed by Syrah and experimental varieties such as Gamay, Muscat, and Chenin Blanc. The estate operates as a working farm alongside its winery. Preston committed to organic farming in 2000, received CCOF certification in 2002, and began farming biodynamically in 2010. The property includes Italian olive trees, a commercial bakery with a brick oven for hearth breads, grain plantings for estate loaves, and livestock including sheep, chickens, and pigs as part of a holistic management system. Wines include the L. Preston and Madam Preston blends, a sulfite-free Organic Syrah, and a hard apple cider.
