Raphael Vineyard & Winery, located in Peconic, New York on the North Fork of Long Island, is a winery known for its sustainable and natural winemaking philosophy. Founded by John Petrocelli, who named it after his father, Raphael continues a centuries-old family tradition of winemaking. The winery's design was inspired by Italian monasteries, blending classic Mediterranean architecture with modern equipment. Utilizing gravity flow and controlled fermentation, Raphael wines are produced with minimal fining and filtration, allowing the terroir to shine through in each bottle. The vineyard is managed by Stephen Mudd, a pioneer of Long Island grape growing, who prioritizes sustainable agriculture and hand-harvests grapes entirely by hand. The North Fork's unique terroir, influenced by glacial soils and maritime climate, contributes flavors of coastal fruits like strawberry, blackberry, and cranberry to Raphael's wines, as well as a distinct saline mineralogy in their whites. Visitors can experience the winery's tasting room, where adults 21+ are welcome to taste and learn about the wines, but please note that pets and outside food are not permitted.
