Rodeo Hills

Rodeo Hills is a family-owned winery situated on a seven-acre Dundee Hills vineyard in Oregon, where Jared Etzel and his team cultivate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with an emphasis on minimal intervention winemaking. The estate's 900-foot elevation and shallow Jory soil contribute to wines of notable acidity and lower alcohol content. With a focus on artisanal production, Rodeo Hills crafts around 800-900 cases annually, adhering to a strict no-addition policy except for a small amount of sulfur during the winemaking process. The vineyard's biodynamic farming practices are evident in its massale selected field blend and low yields of 2.5 tons per acre or less. The tasting experience is by appointment only, allowing visitors to appreciate the intimate 2,200-square-foot tasting room designed by Nielsen Schuh Architects, which seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape through the use of rammed earth construction and Douglas Fir glazing. This architectural approach reflects the winery's core principle of emphasizing architecture's connection to the earth, creating a dialogue between the built environment and the agricultural one. As a family vineyard, Rodeo Hills is directed by Jared Etzel, his wife Erica, and Eugene Labunsky, with Mr. McCafferty at the helm. The winery's name pays homage to childhood memories of riding dirt roads in a Volkswagen, evoking a sense of rustic Oregon spirit.
