Rudd Estate

Rudd Estate is a family-run winery located at the corner of Oakville Crossroad and Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, near Pritchard Hill, considered one of the best places on earth to grow Cabernet Sauvignon and other red Bordeaux varieties. The estate's iron-rich, volcanic soil contributes structure and complexity to its wines, which are farmed organically using meticulous practices, including a full-time vineyard manager and weed-eating sheep. Rudd's winemaking philosophy focuses on quality over quantity, with an emphasis on just a few high-end wines, all of which are estate-grown. The winery produces a range of Bordeaux-style reds, including Cabernet Sauvignon blends from Oakville, as well as a Sauvignon Blanc from its Mount Veeder estate that incorporates Semillon and Sauvignon Gris. Visitors can explore the property's tranquil gardens, Workshop (winery), and underground caves where wines age in barrel before bottling. A visit includes a deep dive into Rudd's organic and biodynamic farming practices, as well as tastings in various settings, including the boathouse overlooking the winery's lake or the Vintner's Cellar with its extensive library wine selection. Founded by Leslie Rudd in 2002, the estate is now led by his daughter Samantha, who has continued her father's legacy of producing exceptional wines and offering an intimate, high-end tasting experience.
