Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard

Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard is a winery located on the west side of Santa Cruz, California, within walking distance to other tasting rooms and nearby Natural Bridges State Park. The winery was founded in 1975 by Ken Burnap, who sought to produce exceptional Pinot Noir in the region. After 27 years at its original location, the winery moved to its current site in 2002, with Jeff Emery taking over as winemaker and business operator. Emery's legacy is marked by a commitment to Old World-style wines that emphasize food-friendliness and moderate alcohol levels, eschewing high-alcohol, jammy, oaky wines. The winery produces a range of varietals, including Pinot Noir, but also offers the Quinta Cruz label, which features Iberian Peninsula varieties such as Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Graciano grown in California. Visitors can enjoy tastings at the winery's tasting room, with reservations recommended for weekends; children and dogs are welcome, and a maximum group size of six people is enforced.
