Spero Winery

Spero Winery is a family-owned and operated boutique winery located in Denver, Colorado. The winery was founded by Clyde Spero in 1999, continuing the tradition of winemaking that began with his father, Gaetano, who immigrated to America from Italy at the age of 13. Gaetano's experiences as a coal miner and farmer in Southern Colorado eventually led him to purchase land and establish a vineyard, where he made wine for his family using traditional techniques passed down from his homeland. Clyde Spero has carried on this tradition, producing a range of wines that include Colombard, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, and others. The winery sources grapes not only from its own small urban vineyard but also from the Western slope of Colorado and Lodi, California. Spero Winery is open to visitors on Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm, with free wine tastings available. Visitors can also join in on monthly wine dinners and annual events like the Case Party. The winery's label design features a portrait of Clyde's father, Gaetano, who inspired the name "Vino è Buono" (meaning "wine is good") after his signature toast. Spero Winery has won numerous awards at domestic and international competitions for its wines, which are available for tasting and purchase on-site.
