Texas Heritage Vineyards

Texas Heritage Vineyards is a family-run winery located in Fredericksburg, Texas, within the heart of the Texas wine corridor. Established in 2015 by Billy and Susan Johnson, the vineyard has grown to encompass twelve and a half acres of estate-grown varietals, including Alicante Bouschet, Malbec, Tempranillo, Souzao, Tannat, and Viognier. The winery's production facility, completed in 2017, features over 400 barrels of wine and hosts special Wine Club events. Winemaker Tyler Buddemeyer has developed a unique style with many Texas Heritage wines, working closely with Susan to make winemaking decisions and chart the vineyard-to-bottle progression. The tasting room, operated by daughter Jessica Allen, offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can enjoy live music on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as numerous events and parties. The winery's award-winning wines include Double Gold Medal winners such as Stella Solitaria, Estate Alicante Bouschet, and Souzao (2021 Texas Monthly Vintner's Cup winner), as well as Gold Medal winners like Tannat, Sangiovese, and Barbera. Visitors can explore the estate vineyard, learn about the winemaking process, and taste a selection of wines in the tasting room or on the patio. Reservations for tastings are recommended, and live music is often featured on weekends.
