The Winery at Manzanita

The Winery at Manzanita is an Oregon Coast wine bar and tasting room in Manzanita, just south of Cannon Beach. Owner and winemaker Mark Proden founded the operation in 2008 under the Bodhichitta label while attending wine school in Salem, where he made small batches of 10 to 100 cases by hand. After developing dry to off-dry tropical fruit wines in Hawaii under the Island Mana Wines label, he chose Manzanita as a new venue inspired by nature, with the winery's mascot and label modeled on his black lab, Pinot. The winery focuses on handcrafted, small-batch wines made from local Oregon and Washington grapes, including Pinot noir drawn from organic fruit grown in Carlton. Reds are fermented in one-ton fermenters, and the winery uses real oak barrels from French forests and coopers. Its Manzanita NW tasting room in Portland's Slabtown neighborhood features around 20 wines from the Manzanita winery, ranging from Pinot noir and crisp whites to sparkling, rosé, and big reds such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Syrah.
