Thirsty Owl Wine Co., located on the Western Shore of Cayuga Lake in Ovid, New York, is home to some of the oldest vinifera vines in the Finger Lakes Region. The winery produces award-winning wines from estate-grown varietals, including Riesling, Chancellor, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Visitors can sample these wines in the spacious tasting room or on the patio overlooking Cayuga Lake, which offers breathtaking panoramic views. The Bistro at Thirsty Owl provides a unique outdoor dining experience with seasonal menu options made from local ingredients, paired with spectacular views of the vineyards and lake. With 41 acres of vines, the winery is a working estate that does not offer vineyard tours but instead invites visitors to enjoy its wines in a fun and friendly atmosphere with knowledgeable staff as guides. The winery has been open since September 13, 2002, and its name was inspired by founder Ted Cupp's whimsical vision of a "large, thirsty owl" in the vineyards after a night out. Thirsty Owl also operates a satellite location in Saratoga Springs, New York, offering wine tastings and dining options.
