Tobin James Cellars

Tobin James Cellars is a Paso Robles winery known for its unique and award-winning wines, particularly Zinfandel. Founded by Tobin "Toby" James, the winery was born from six tons of extra grapes given to Toby as an assistant winemaker in 1984. His first wine, the 1985 Blue Moon Zinfandel, won double gold medals and a spot on The Wine Spectator's "Top 100 Wines of the Year." After quietly producing small-batch wines for several years, Toby built Tobin James Cellars in 1993, which was later joined by partners Lance and Claire Silver in 1996. The winery is located eight miles east of Paso Robles on Highway 46 and offers a tasting experience that showcases its wines as "Paso Robles in a glass." Visitors can enjoy tastings outside, subject to staffing availability, for a $20 per person fee (waived with a $20 or more wine purchase). The winery also has a picnic and pet area, including an artisan grotto seating about twenty people. James Gang Wine Club members receive complimentary tastings, as well as discounts on wine purchases and merchandise.
