Vitae Springs

Vitae Springs is a family-owned vineyard in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, established in 1978. The winery is situated on the historic Vitae Springs Estate, where "suitcase cuttings" from Germany were planted to create some of the oldest Grüner-Veltliner, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, and Pinot Gris vines in the country. Since purchasing the estate in 2018, the Freund Family has focused on converting the land to a genuinely sustainable farm, with goals that include limiting inputs, sourcing locally, and nurturing diverse ecosystems. Vitae Springs is certified organic but aims to go beyond this standard by reducing waste and promoting ecological balance. The winery offers boutique wine tastings and experiences in its tasting barn, which is nestled in the heart of the historic old vine vineyard. Tastings are available for $40 per person, including a complimentary snack plate, and can be waived with a three-bottle purchase. The tasting experience is intimate and rustic, with guests enjoying wines in a setting that preserves the original charm of the barn while embracing the raw beauty of the vineyard. Vitae Springs' winemakers, Randy and Alexis, lead tastings through their reserve tier wines, including a 2024 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir described as offering depth, vibrancy, and effortless elegance.
