Vixen Hill Winery

Vixen Hill Winery is a family-owned estate located in Central Illinois, producing hand-crafted wines that pair well with everyday foods. The winery's signature varietals include Norton and Vignoles grapes, which are grown on-site and in surrounding midwest vineyards. Gene and Vera Pence, the founders, began their wine-making journey in the 80s, visiting various wineries in the Midwest, and eventually planted their first acre of Norton grapes in 1999. The winery's name was inspired by a Vixen (female fox) that appeared on the day of the planting. After years of experimenting with small batches, the family decided to open their own winery in 2012, with construction beginning in June 2013. Today, visitors can escape to the winery and enjoy wine tastings, relaxing in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The tasting experience is available year-round, with winter hours from Monday through Thursday (closed), Friday and Saturday (11am-5pm), and Sunday (noon-5pm).
