Whitehall Farm + Vineyard

Whitehall Farm + Vineyard sits just south of Charlottesville in Albemarle County, within the Monticello AVA, which Wine Enthusiast named its 2023 wine region of the year. The property spans 310 gently rolling acres that hold a vineyard, an equestrian facility, and the South Paddock Winery. The farm's history reaches back to the 1780s, when Southern Albemarle farmland was valued for its proximity to the James River. The vineyard is a small, family-run operation growing Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay, from which it crafts small-batch wines. Visitors come to the South Paddock Winery to enjoy its wines and cheeseboards, relax on the hydrangea terrace, or picnic in the meadow; outside food is welcome and leashed dogs are permitted on the terrace. The winery accommodates large groups with advance notice, hosts special events, and guests can also experience the farm on horseback.
